Warriors Fall Short to Bruins

BELLEVUE, NE – The Waldorf men's basketball returned to conference play for a game against the Bellevue Bruins on Friday evening. The Warriors were defeated 67-57.
"Our defense wasn't good today," stated Head Coach Nigel Jenkins. "We lacked energy and effort. Helped off shooters that we shouldn't be helping of. Those are things that we can control every night and we didn't tonight."
1st Half: Ugo Ejiofor (JR/Dallas, TX) opened the game by scoring back-to-back layups. Gabriel Sorensen (JR/West Haven, UT) made a go-ahead three-pointer for an 8-5 lead. The Bruins went on an 8-1 run. Khalil Grayson (JR/Milwaukee, WI) and Justin Wiggins (JR/West Palm Beach, FL) scored to bring the game within three.
Sorensen brought the game within one point with a layup. Ejiofor made two free throws and the Bruins went up by eight. Noah Miller (JR/Forest City, IA) drained a last second three to bring the game within five, the Warriors were down 30-25.
2nd Half: The Bruins started the new half with back-to-back three-pointers and a layup for an 11-point lead. After made free-throws, Wiggins added a jump shot to bring the game within eight points. After a defensive rebound from Kaelon Harkema (JR/Louisville, KY), Ejiofor came up with a fast break dunk at the 8-minute mark.
The Warriors were down by four after a made three-pointer from Miller. Bellevue scored eight straight points. Harkema made a fast break layup after grabbing a steal. The Bruins maintained their lead to win the game 67-57.
Ejiofor finished with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds, with 3 blocks. Grayson added 10 points and Washington tallied 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.
The men's basketball team will be back in action tomorrow, January 20th, for a road game against Dakota State. Tipoff is at 5 pm.
