Warriors drop DH at Dickinson State
DICKINSON, N.D. - A late Dickinson State kept the Waldorf softball team from taking the second game of a doubleheader Friday as the Blue Hawks took the first two games of a four-game set.
In the opening game Friday, Dickinson State scored five runs over the first three innings to take early command of the Warriors and claim a 5-1 win. Waldorf got their run in the fourth inning when a Madison Clark RBI double scored Kaela Eslinger. Maddie Dalke and Timber Oakes each had two hits for Waldorf.
In the second game, Waldorf scored three runs in the first, four in the second, and three more in the third to take a 10-2 lead. Eslinger and McKenna Mentink each had run-producing singles in the first inning. A Brooke Hickey triple highlighted a four-run second. The Warriors regained the lead in the fifth but the Blue Hawks countered with a run in their half of the innings. Dickinson State scored twice in the sixth to take a 13-11 lead. They would win by that score. Hickey went 3-for-3 with 3 RBI in the second game.
