The Waldorf softball team was back at the Dordt Dome Tournament for another doubleheader. The Warriors played Northwestern, lost 0-6 and College of Saint Mary, won 3-2.
The Raiders scored their first run at the start of the game to take a quick lead.
Northwestern continued their momentum in the 4th inning to add two more runs. Their final two runs came in the 5th and 6th inning to win 0-6.
The Warriors were limited to three hits. Alyssa Oswald (JR/Wasilla, AK) and Maddie Dalke (JR/Medford, OR) pitched for Waldorf.
For game two, the Warriors were up against College of Saint Mary. The first four innings remained scoreless as both teams battled to get on the board first.
The Flames scored first in the top of the 5th inning.
The Warriors responded in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game with Annah Sheffield (JR/Sheffield, AL) got a single to right field getting Gabby Bierly (FR/Eagan, MN) to score. Brooke Hickey (SO/Adel, IA) continued with an RBI single allowing Sheffield to get the go ahead run. McKenna Mentink (SR/Mason City, IA) kept the hot bat rolling with another RBI single getting Emily Muro (SR/Stanton, CA) to home plate.
The Flames scored one run in the top of the 6th on a sacrifice fly. Waldorf won 3-2.
Alex Mathers (SR/Greene, IA) started out pitching for the first four innings with one strikeout and Mentink finished the game help secure the win.
Next up for the Warriors is a three game weekend at the Two Rivers Youth Complex in Wichita, Kansas starting with Peru State on Friday, March 3rd at 2 p.m. followed with Doane at 6 p.m.
