Waldorf Softball Opens Their Season in the ASB Dome Classic

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – The Warrior Softball team opened their season in the ASB Dome Classic on Saturday.
In Game 1, they competed against the Mount Mercy University Mustangs. The Mustangs scored six runs while holding the Warriors to zero runs, winning 6-0. Geneva Molina had two strikeouts.
In Game 2, the Warriors competed against the Peru State College Bobcats. Peru State started the game with five runs before Waldorf scored in the bottom of the third inning. Alyssa Maldonado hit a single for two RBIs scored by Timber Oakes and Paige Pierson. Noemi Tudon scored a third run after an error from the Peru State catcher. Maldonado finished the third inning scoring after an RBI single by Savannah Lyford and error by the Bobcats. Heading into the fourth inning, the Bobcats had the lead 5-4 and were able to score one run, taking their lead to 6-4. The Warriors scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth by Tudon with Lyford's RBI single. Neither team scored in the seventh inning, so Peru State took the win 6-5.
The Warriors compete against St. Xavier University at 1:30pm tomorrow in Sioux Center, Iowa.
