LAMONI, Iowa - The Waldorf softball team went out of conference for contests on the road at Graceland. The Yellowjackets proved to be too much and swept the doubleheader.
In the opener, Waldorf starting pitcher Maddie Dalke allowed only two hits over the first two innings as the game remained scoreless. Graceland broke through for five runs in the third which included a pair of home runs. The Yellowjackets scored two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings. The final runs were scored on a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth as Graceland took the opener, 9-0. Kyleigh Morris and Kaela Eslinger picked up hits for the Warriors.
Graceland used the momentum from the end of the first game to score early in the second game. A seven-run first inning included two three-run home runs. One was by Jayda Gay who also connected for two long blasts in the first game. The Yellowjackets continue to add runs over the next three innings and took a 13-0 lead going into the fifth. Waldorf was able to break through for a run in the fifth, but they weren't able to extend the game as Graceland won, 13-1.
Waldorf (4-20) hosts an NSAA four-game set Saturday and Sunday against Bellevue. First game Saturday starts at 2 p.m.
