Softball earns split at Dickinson State
DICKINSON, N.D. - The Waldorf softball team's doubleheader Saturday at Dickinson State was highlighted by a 4-3 win in the opener in NSAA action.
Maddie Dalke was in the circle for Waldorf in the opening game. She held Dickinson State scoreless through four innings. Waldorf got her some run support in the fourth inning. Madison Clark hit a two-out, two-run triple to left to give Waldorf a 2-0 lead. The Warriors added onto their lead in the fifth. Brooke Hickey and Haley Ehlert each drove in runs with singles to put Waldorf up 4-0. The Blue Hawks countered with three runs in the fifth. It stayed 4-3 until the seventh. Dickinson State put together a two-out rally in the seventh. HaiLeigh Davis singled and stole second. Cassy Loa singled to left. Davis rounded third for home, but Timber Oakes saved the day by throwing out Davis at home to seal the win for the Warriors.
Dickinson State took the second game, 7-2 and took the four-game series three games to one.
Waldorf (4-18, 3-8 in NSAA) next plays Thursday for a non-conference doubleheader at Graceland.
