Waldorf Baseball Split against College of the Ozarks
POINT LOOKOUT, MO – The Waldorf baseball team traveled for a four game non-conference weekend series against the College of the Ozarks. The Warriors split today, taking the first game 6-3 and dropping the second 1-7.
To start the first game, Thomas Capllonch (SR/Kailua, HI) got an RBI single with Damien Sanchez (JR/Riverside, CA) scoring. The Bobcats responded with a two-run homerun and then closed out the 1st inning with another run, taking the lead 1-3.
In the top of the 4th, Anthony Hibl (JR/Sharon, WI) hit a triple getting Atticus Smith (SO/Kent, WA) and Ryan Webster (SO/Las Vegas, NV) to home plate to tie the game. Matthew Ferreira (SO/Spring Creek, NV) got the go-ahead RBI with a single. Hibl scored the run to end the 4th inning.
Zach Meyer (JR/Gilbert, AZ) was hit by a pitch in the 5th inning allowing Smith to add another run. The Warriors' final run came in the 6th inning with Sanchez having a sacrifice fly out getting Davis Churchman (SO/Ankeny, IA) to score.
Ryan Meyer (JR/Gilbert, AZ) pitched all seven innings and finished with seven strikeouts and zero walks. Smith saw three at-bats with two hits and two runs.
In game two, the Bobcats took an early lead by scoring two runs in the 1st inning.
Webster scored the only run for the Warriors by an error from the Bobcat's catcher in the second inning.
The Bobcats went on to win the game with scoring five more runs to take the 1-7 win.
Jamie Olson (SO/Menifee, CA) pitched 3.2 innings and Gunnar Huffman (FR/Robinson, TX) closed out with 2.1. Huffman finished with four strikeouts and only one walk. Smith had two hits on three at-bats.
The Warriors will finish their weekend series against the Bobcats tomorrow with another doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
