Waldorf Baseball Picks Up First Win of the Season

PONCA CITY, OK - Waldorf Baseball traveled to Oklahoma for Day 1 of their series against the William Penn Statesmen. On February 23, the Warriors played a doubleheader, splitting the games and winning Game 2.
The Warriors finished Game 1 with a loss to the Statesmen, 20-5. Tyler Wytulka scored in the third inning, making it a 2-1 game. Seth Mifflin was able to tie up the game in the fourth inning at 2-2. The Statesmen scored six runs each in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. Waldorf was able to cut the lead down with runs in the bottom of the seventh by Atticus Smith, Lucas Romero, and Cameren Rindone. Jack Kamalski had five strikeouts.
In Game 2, the Warriors picked up their first win of the season with a 6-3 win. Pitcher Ben Dornseif helped the Warriors hold the Statesmen scoreless in the first four innings and holding them to only three runs. The Warriors scored five runs in the third inning from Rylee Rauch, Rindone, Romero, Anthony Hibl, and Mason Smith, taking a 5-0 lead. Wytulka scored in the sixth inning after the Statesmen scored two in the fifth, making it a 6-2 lead. The Statesmen scored one last run in the top of the seventh, but it was not enough to overtake the Warriors.
The Warriors face the Statesmen again on Monday, February 24 in Ponca City, OK for another doubleheader.
