Waldorf Baseball Face Sterling College for Doubleheader

The Waldorf baseball team returned to the field for a double header against Sterling College. The Warriors fell short in both games by just one run. The first game ended 6-7 and the second was 7-8.
Zach Meyer (JR/Gilbert, AZ) opened the first game with a homerun.
Sterling responded by scoring three runs in the bottom of the 1st inning.
Luis Rivera (SR/Panama City, Panama) scored the second run off of an error. Waldorf had two errors that resulted in two more runs for Sterling to end the 2nd inning, 2-5.
Atticus Smith (SO/Kent, WA) started the 3rd inning off with a homerun to try and get more momentum going for Waldorf.
Sterling scored another run in the 3rd inning off of a sacrifice fly RBI.
Waldorf scored three straight runs to tie the game 6-6. Juan Jorge (JR/Bronx, NY) scored the fourth run, unearned off an RBI by Davis Churchman (SR/Ankeny, IA). Thomas Capllonch (SR/Kailua, HI) scored on a wild pitch. Nathan Westfield (SO/Indian Harbor Beach, FL) scored from a sacrifice bunt by Matthew Ferreira (SR/Spring Creek, NV).
Sterling College won the game on an error from Waldorf.
In game two, Waldorf started off by being up 3-0 until the 4th inning. Anthony Hibl (JR/Sharon, WI) and Ferreira both scored on Sterling errors and Westfield scored, unearned.
In the 4th inning, Sterling scored a 2-run homerun to make the score 3-2.
Waldorf scored four straight runs to take the lead 7-2. Ryan Webster (SO/Las Vegas, NV), Ferreira, and Robert Gurney (FR/Campbell River, BC) each had RBIs with Capllonch, Webster, and Hibl scoring. AJ Toulouse (FR/Marshall, MN) scored on a wild pitch.
Sterling closed out game two by scoring four straight runs to win 6-7.
Meyer started pitching for Waldorf and pitched five innings with having five strike outs.
Next up for the Waldorf baseball team is a non-conference weekend against Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri for three games. Saturday, Feb. 25th is a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
