Waldorf Baseball Splits Games with Viterbo University

KANSAS CITY, KS - The Waldorf Baseball team traveled to Kansas City, Kansas to face off against the Viterbo University V-Hawks in a weekend series. Waldorf split the day, winning 4-3 in Game 1 and dropping the second 16-12.
In Game 1, Viterbo scored early to take the lead. Viterbo scored two more runs to increase the gap to three at the top of the fifth. They held the Warriors scoreless until the fifth inning, where Waldorf's Rylee Rauch scored the Warriors' first run. Seth Miffilin would add to the score in the same inning to make it tie game. Both teams went scoreless in the seventh inning, adding an extra inning where Waldorf's Mason Smith would seal the deal at the bottom of the eighth, making it a 4-3 win for the Warriors.
In Game 2, a combined 28 runs were scored between both teams. In the first inning, Viterbo would score one right away, but that would not last long as the Warriors would score four runs in the first alone by Rauch, Cameren Rindone, Brendan McKelvey, and Lucas Romero to take the 4-1 lead. Viterbo struck back with five runs at the top of the second and scored again at the top of the third to make it a 7-4 Viterbo lead. Viterbo would extend the lead at the top of the fourth inning, adding another four runs and making it an 11-4 game while holding the Warriors scoreless for three innings. Viterbo would score another at the top of the fifth to increase the gap and make it a 12-4 game. The Warriors would answer and score four runs at the bottom of the fifth by McKelvey, Romero, Tyler Wytulka, and Ryan Webster, closing the gap and making it a 12-8 game. Viterbo would score two more runs at the top of the sixth and the Warriors would score at the bottom of the sixth by Rauch, Rindone, McKelvey, and Romero, making it a 14-12 game. Viterbo would score two more runs in the seventh inning and hold the Warriors to their twelve runs to seal the deal and take Game 2, 16-12.
The Warriors will face Viterbo on Sunday, March 2 for another doubleheader.
