Waldorf Baseball Splits Games in Day 2 of Weekend Series

KANSAS CITY, KS - Waldorf Baseball spilt the second set of games in the weekend series against the Viterbo V-Hawks. Waldorf would win the first game 10-6 and lose the second game 6-5.
In Game 1, Waldorf would start off strong, scoring 2 runs at the top of the first by Waldorf's Rylee Rauch after a line drive from Waldorf's Brendan McKelvey. McKelvey would score after Waldorf's Ryan Webster was hit by a pitch, taking the early 2-0 lead. Viterbo would score one run at the bottom of the first inning, making it 2-1. The Warriors would go on to score three runs in the next two innings by Waldorf's Isaiah Martin, Tyler Wytulka, and Webster, making it a 5-1 Waldorf lead. Waldorf would continue to dominate and put up two more runs after Rauch and McKelvey would score at the top of the fourth, extending the lead to 7-1. Waldorf's Martin would score at the top of the fifth adding to the 8-1 lead. Viterbo would answer by scoring four runs in the bottom of the fifth, closing the gap to three runs. Each team would score one in the sixth inning with Waldorf's Romero adding to the lead at the top of the sixth. Waldorf's Cameron Rindone would seal the game and score the Warriors final run and come out with the 10-6 win.
The Warriors would combine a total of 16 hits. Rauch had an RBI and a double; Rindone had an RBI and a double; Wytulka had a double; Martin had two doubles; Romero had three RBIs, a double, and a home run; Webster had four RBIs and a home run.
In Game 2, Waldorf would lead the weekend series by one game. The game would be quiet for the first three innings for both teams. Waldorf would hit a couple by Webster and Wytulka at the top of the fourth with no luck scoring. Viterbo would be the first to score in the bottom of the 4th, taking the 1-0 lead. Waldorf would answer with 3 runs by Rindone, McKelvey, and Webster, taking the 3-1 lead at the top of the fifth and holding the V-Hawks scoreless in the bottom of the fifth. Waldorf would extend the lead, adding two more runs by Waldorf's Rindone and Drake Fetters, making it a 5-1 ball game at the top of the sixth. The lead would not last long for the Warriors, as Viterbo would answer with five runs, taking the 6-5 lead. Waldorf would not be able to come back at the top of the seventh, and Viterbo would come out with the win, splitting the weekend series 2-2.
Waldorf would combine for 12 hits with Rindone leading the way with an RBI, a double, and a home run. Wytulka also had an RBI and a double, Romero had two RBIs, and Mifflin had one RBI.
Waldorf hits the road next weekend to McKenzie, Tennessee to face the Bethel University Wildcats for a four-game series.
