Warriors drop home contest to Mount Mercy

FOREST CITY, Iowa - The Waldorf baseball team hosted another Iowa team to Forest City in Mount Mercy. The Warriors put forth a mid-game rally, but the Mustangs pulled away for an 8-4 non-conference win.
Mount Mercy scored early putting up two runs in the top of the first. Zach Meyer got one of the runs back for Waldorf in the bottom half of the first with third home run of the season. It was a solo shot to right center. The Mustangs pushed the lead to 5-1 in the fifth before the Warriors pulled within one run. Robert Gurney started a three-run fifth with a one-out double to left center. Two batters later, Ian Carr delivered an RBI single to right center. That was followed by a Riley Rauch home run to right center. That is his third home run of the season. The Mustangs added single runs in the sixth, seventh, and ninth innings and held Waldorf off the scoreboard the rest of the game to give them the 8-4 win.
Waldorf (14-19) returns to NSAA play Friday and Saturday at Dickinson State.
