Waldorf Softball Drops Two In Kansas

SHAWNEE, KS - The Warriors struggled to find offense on the first day of play at Mid America Sports Complex in Shawnee, Kansas. Waldorf dropped both games on Saturday versus Park University (8-0) and Graceland University (7-1).
In game one, the Warriors managed to get one baserunner in the top of the first with a Noemi Tudon walk and were eventually shut down after. The Park offense managed to score one run in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly from Chloe Gilbert.
The Pirate offense exploded in the bottom of the second, scoring 7 runs on 4 hits and 5 walks. After the second, the Warriors were able to keep the offense at bay, but it was not enough to recover from the deficit. Waldorf scored 0 runs with 2 hits and 3 walks. Seniors Kierra Lynn Schulz and Paige Pierson both went 1 for 2.
In game 2, Freshman Reagan Ridout was able to shut down the Yellowjackets for the first 2 innings. Graceland scored one in the third on a double from Sammi Bradshaw. The Warriors bounced back with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning with a leadoff solo shot to right field from sophomore Jenna Busch. This was her first of the season.
Graceland came back with another run in the fourth, and sealed the deal with four in the 6th and another in the top of the 7th. After the third, Waldorf was only able to have 2 other baserunners to the end of the game. Paige Pierson hit a single up the middle, and junior Alyssa Maldonado was able to reach on error from the Graceland third basemen.
