Women's Basketball Fall to Bruins

The Waldorf women's basketball had a conference contest against Bellevue University. The Warriors fell 55-90.
The Bruins opened the first quarter scoring five straight points. Lizzie Garza (JR/Brownsville, TX) stopped the run by draining a three.
Sandra Christian (JR/Gainesville, TX) tied the game, 8-8, with a three of her own. The Bruins gets up 10-23 before Kinsey Tweedy (SR/Roselle, IL) hits a jump shot.
In the second quarter, the Bruins were up 15-37 by making a three. Tweedy responds with a three of her own and Christian makes a layup.
With just under five minutes remaining in the second quarter, Eliza McKown (FR/Orono, MN) makes a jump shot and Lindsay Field (JR/Eyota, MN) scored five straight points. The Bruins were up 27-53.
The Warriors started the third quarter with Bethany Rehse (SR/Ida Grove, IA), Tweedy, and Garza all making 3-pointers. McKown and Alyah Abrahamson (FR/Browerville, MN) made a combined four free throws and Tweedy hit a three to end the third quarter, 45-73.
Christian opened the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer. The Bruins had their lowest scoring quarter with 17 points and won 55-90.
"Unfortunately, our offense really struggled the first half, which carried over to the defensive end," stated Head Coach Shawn Chaffin. "We did make some strides 2nd half, and we need to continue to progress."
Tweedy had a team high of 12 points with going 3-3 from the three-point line. Garza finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, and two steals and Christian added 10 points with two assists.
The Warriors will return to Hanson Fieldhouse for their last home weekend conference series, starting with Valley City State University on Friday, Feb. 3rd. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
