Women's Basketball takes on Valley City

FOREST CITY, IA – The Waldorf University Women's Basketball Team saw action in North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) play Saturday, falling 73-55 at the hands of visiting Valley City State at Hanson Fieldhouse.
Although the Vikings (9-11, 3-3 NSAA) led wire-to-wire, the Warriors (5-14, 0-6) were able to keep the game close early. After falling behind 12-6, the Warriors then went on a 7-2 run to trim the margin to a game-low one point at 14-13 with 3:23 remaining in the first quarter. The Warriors scored on three consecutive possessions, with layups from freshman forward Brooke Dial (Dallas, TX), junior forward Camryn McQuery (Waseca, MN), and sophomore guard Alyah Abrahamson (Browersville, MN).
Valley City opened the game up in the second quarter, winning the stanza by a 22-14 margin to set the halftime score at 47-30. Waldorf rebounded in the second half, which it lost by only a point, 26-25.
Sophomore forward Edosa Ogbemudia (East Bethel, MN) led all Warrior scorers with 15 points to go along with a team high seven rebounds. Dial was the only other Waldorf player in double figures, with 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and one steal.
The Warriors will continue their four-game homestand Friday night when they play host to conference foe Bellevue. Tipoff will take place at 5:30 p.m.
