Women's Basketball Wraps 2023-24 Season at Dakota State

MADISON, SD – The Waldorf Women's Basketball Team concluded its 2023-24 season Wednesday night, falling, 99-43, at the hands of #10 Dakota State at the Dakota State University Fieldhouse in North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Tournament play.
The Trojans (24-5, 12-1 NSAA) came roaring out of the gates. After the game started tied at 2-2, Dakota State went on a 24-0 run over the final seven minutes of the opening stanza to take a 26-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. Dakota State led wire to wire.
Freshman forward Brooke Dial (Dallas, TX) finished her standout rookie campaign as Waldorf's (6-20, 1-12 NSAA) leading scorer, amassing 19 points to go along with six rebounds and four steals.
Waldorf went 12 for 14, or 85.7 percent, from the free throw line on the night. Senior guard Lizzie Garza (Brownsville, TX), sophomore guard Alyah Abrahamson (Browersville, MN), and senior guard Deaira Keaton (Minneola, FL) were all perfect from the charity stripe on the night, going a combined 8 for 8.
Senior guard Sandra Christian (Gainesville, TX) was Waldorf's leading rebounder, with seven.
Wednesday marked Waldorf's final game as a member of the North Star Athletic Association. The Warriors will begin competing in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) in the fall.
