Christian Sets Four-Year Program Record in Dickinson Game

FOREST CITY, IA – The Waldorf University Women's Basketball Team played its first North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference home game Friday night, falling 80-71 at the hands of Dickinson State in the Hanson Fieldhouse.
In a historic moment, Waldorf senior guard Sandra Christian (Gainesville, TX) made her 161st career three-pointer in the game's first half. Upon making the shot, she set a new four-year program record for career made three pointers, surpassing Morgan Straight '19 (160). Christian went on to connect on three more triples, finishing the night with 12 points.
Waldorf (5-13, 0-5 NSAA) got off to a fast start, taking an immediate 6-1 lead thanks to two made baskets from sophomore forward Edosa Ogbemudia (East Bethel, MN) and one from freshman forward Brooke Dial (Dallas, TX). Dickinson (6-13, 1-4) then recovered and controlled play for the remainder of the half, outpacing the Warriors by an eleven point margin in order to take a 34-28 lead into intermission.
Dial went on to lead all scorers with 25 points on 7 for 20 shooting, including three three-pointers. Dial also shot a perfect 8 for 8 from the free throw line.
The Warriors had an outstanding night from the charity stripe, making 17 of 21 attempts, or 81 percent. However, the visiting Blue Haws cleared that bar, converting 27 free throws in 33 opportunities for 81.8 percent.
The Warriors also saw a strong effort from senior guard Lizzie Garza (Brownsville, TX) who tallied 19 points on 7 for 16 shooting in 31 minutes of action.
Waldorf returns to action Saturday when it plays host to Valley City State in NSAA play. Tip off is slated for 3:00 p.m.
