Women's Basketball Drop to Dickinson State

The Waldorf women's basketball team closed out their home conference weekend with a game against Dickinson State University. The Warriors fell 44-87.
Kinsey Tweedy (SR/Roselle, IL) opened the game by scoring right away. The Blue Hawks went on a 10-1 run. Sandra Christian (JR/Gainesville, TX) stopped the run with a three.
Lizzie Garza (JR/Brownsville, TX) scored back-to-back with a made free-throw to bring the game back within three.
The Blue Hawks go up by six. Waldorf called a timeout with one minute left in the quarter and Cloey Dmytruk (FR/St. Paul, MN) drained a three and Garza made a jump shot to end the first quarter. The Warriors were down 16-22.
In the second quarter, the Warriors were outscored 7-18. Dmytruk record four points and Lindsay Field (JR/Eyota, MN) made a three in the quarter.
The Warriors trailed 23-40 to start the third quarter. Field made another three to start the half. The Blue Hawks scored four threes to go by 28-55.
Dmytruk scored a layup and Field added a three-point play to close out the third quarter.
The Blue Hawks have their highest scoring quarter with 26 points and the Warriors recorded 11. Dickinson State won 44-87.
"Not the weekend we wanted, but there's not time to feel sorry for ourselves," Head Coach Shawn Chaffin stated. "We are sitting tied for 6th with two weeks to go after being picked to finish last. Lot of work to do before we went the postseason on the 21st."
Garza finished with a team high of 12 points and Field added 11. Bethany Rehse (SR/Ida Grove, IA) had seven rebounds and Dmytruk had nine points.
The Warriors will have their final away conference weekend for the regular season next week starting with Presentation College on Friday, Feb. 10th at 5:30 p.m.
