Waldorf D1 Hockey Signs Donovan Ascencio

FOREST CITY, Iowa - The Waldorf Warriors D1 Hockey Team is excited to announce the addition of Donovan Ascencio for the 2025-26 season. Head Coach Ty Prater announced the signing of Ascencio from Troy, MI. Donovan comes to Waldorf with three years of junior experience and 121 games played.
Ascencio is a 5'7" left-handed forward with a lot of talent. In high school, Donovan had 31 points in 19 games played his junior year while being an assistant captain for the team. His first year of juniors, Ascencio played for the Motor City Gamblers where he had 41 games played at 10 points. His second year of juniors, he stayed with Motor City and played 40 games with 17 points. His final year of juniors, he moved to the Metro Jets (ranked 6th in the country) where he played another 40 games, totaling 20 points so far this season.
"Donovan is a huge signing for us," said Waldorf Head Coach Ty Prater. "He brings in a lot of experience and the talent to move the puck and make smart plays. We met in Vegas and had a great conversation about all he could do to help us win next year and the years to come. Being from Michigan, I'm excited to finally get some Michigan talent here and the gritty Detroit style we're known for. Donovan will be a big asset for us offensively – his vision of the ice and ability to make plays are something I'm really looking forward to. He's also extremely smart and I'm looking forward to him being a leader in the classroom as well. I can't wait to see all that Donovan does in the next four years."
