His junior hockey career began in the USPHL for the Hudson Havoc where he played 43 games and had 12 points. Patterson's last year of juniors started with the Minnesota Moose of the NA3HL before being traded to the Isanti Outlaws of the USPHL where he played 40 games with a total of 37 points. Jacob was also the captain of the Isanti Outlaws.
"I'm really looking forward to having Jacob here next year," said Waldorf Head Coach Ty Prater. "His offensive skill and ability to make plays will make him an immediate impact player for us. We first met at a showcase in Hudson, where Jacob really stood out for his high IQ and strong shot. I know he's going to be a big factor for our offense in the years to come as well as a strong defensive player. He's the type of well-rounded player that we're looking to keep bringing in as we continue building this program."
