Bio

Chad Gassman returned to Waldorf in the fall of 2019 as the new Director of Athletics, continuing a career in collegiate coaching and athletic administration that saw him spend five years previously on campus in Forest City with the Warriors from 2006-2011.

A graduate of Morehead State (Ky.) with a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Gassman earned his Master's in Teaching from Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), where he also began his coaching career as an assistant baseball coach.

Gassman also served as an assistant coach at Young Harris College (Ga.) before taking over as the Head Baseball Coach at Waldorf, and as Assistant Athletic Director, in 2006.

Gassman coached the Warriors for five seasons on the diamond and compiled a 79-120-1 overall record while also serving as the Assistant Athletic Director in charge of Events and Facilities. During the 2010-11 academic year, Gassman also served as Interim Athletic Director at Waldorf.

In the fall of 2011, he continued his collegiate coaching career at the University of Pikeville (Ky.) as Head Baseball Coach, spending four seasons coaching the Bears, then he moved to Judson University (Ill.) where he spent the last four years as both the Eagles Head Baseball Coach and Athletic Director.

While at Judson, Gassman won the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in 2016 and 2017, led the baseball team to the NAIA National Tournament in 2017, and was named NCCAA North Central Coach of the Year in 2016, '17 and '18.

Away from the diamond, he oversaw the growth of the Judson Athletic Department which added the new sports programs of men's volleyball, men's bowling and women's bowling during his time as athletic director.

Passionate about coaching, Gassman also spent 11 summers in the Cape Cod Baseball League as the field manager for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, a tenure that began while he was coaching at Waldorf. In those 11 seasons with the Hawks, Gassman won the Western Division Championship in 2011, '13 and '15, was named the Manager of the Year in 2011, and helped guide 19 Hawks players into Major League Baseball.

Gassman returns to Forest City with his wife, Shannon, and their three children, Taylor, Easton and Nate.
