Waldorf D1 Hockey Signs Cole Dermott

FOREST CITY, Iowa. - The Waldorf Warriors D1 Hockey Team continues to grow its 2025-26 recruiting class with the addition of Cole Dermott. Head Coach Ty Prater announced the signing of Dermott from Langdon, Alberta. Cole comes to Waldorf with three years of juniors experience and 61 games played.
Dermott is a 6'2" left-handed forward who creates a lot of havoc on the forecheck. Cole played U18 in 2021-22 and had a total of 30 points in 34 games. The next year, he started his junior career in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) with the Castlegar Rebels, where he was teammates with Liam Wallace. The following year, Cole stayed in the KIJHL and played for the North Okanagan Knights. In his last year of juniors, the North Okanagan Knights became the Quesnel River Rush. Dermott totaled 38 games played and had 4 points for the Knights/River Rush.
"Cole is going to be a huge asset for us on the forecheck and creating offensive opportunities," said Waldorf Head Coach Ty Prater. "His work ethic and dedication are something I'm really looking forward to having on our team as an influence to others. Cole and I have talked all year long, and I can't say enough good things about his character and attitude. I also can't say enough good things about his pressure as a defender and his ability to create turnovers and offensive chances. I'm really looking forward to his gritty style to help us out quite a lot in the years to come."
Please join us in welcoming Cole and his family to the Warrior Family!
